A Place of Hope, A Home

Nanny’s Casa is the first home Living Hope built. It is home to girls from age 4 – 21 and is named for a real-life “Nanny,” board member Deanna Beauchamp. The name implies, and the home mirrors, the sense of safety and love most children feel for their “Nanny.”

Nanny’s Casa is accredited by DINAF, the Honduran organization for protecting children and adolescents. The agency contacted Living Hope as soon as the home opened in January 2017 and sent girls who were found living in desperate situations.

All the girls have backgrounds from wandering homeless on the streets, living in brothels or with abusive parents. It is a privilege to house them, love them, nourish their bodies and souls, educate them, give them a home filled with opportunity and acceptance.

In addition to typical age-appropriate housekeeping duties, the girls have been taught to do their own laundry, and sometimes help with cooking. They have planted their own garden, are paid to care for it and enjoy eating the fruits of their labor. The also gather eggs from the laying hens! Chickens and beef are also raised for consumption, helping sustain the girls, another reward for their work.

Siempre en nuestros corazones

Always in Our Hearts

Dr. Paul Major was one of the founding board members of Living Hope. A man of great passion, he loved the land and the farm. Paul was a leading proponent of the girls’ home, but unfortunately passed away before its completion.

A memorial plaque honoring Dr. Major lies on a hill overlooking Nanny’s Casa. His selfless devotion will always be an elemental part of the home and it's mission.
